The Amari Children’s Trust (ACT) is a non-profit, purely charitable organisation. ACT was established by the Amari Group of Companies and is dedicated to the development of sustainable education and upliftment initiatives for disadvantaged and underprivileged children within the communities surrounding Amari’s projects and activities in sub-Saharan Africa.

Amari wishes to ensure that its business involvement on the African continent benefits Africa’s children, it recognises and appreciates the significance and impact that their education and wellbeing has on Africa’s future and wishes to be at the forefront of good corporate citizenship in all its business operations.

ACT works to better the lives of children by providing and/or assisting in the provision and improvement of access to education, health care and shelter. Project funding is determined on a case-by-case basis.

ACT looks to foster strategic partnerships with appropriate individuals and organisations locally so as to increase the impact and scope of all its activities.

Vision
ACT strives to be a positively influential charity that directly benefits children within the communities surrounding Amari’s commercial activities in sub-Saharan Africa.

Mission
In the pursuit of its vision ACT will:

  • Develop strategic partnerships and initiate programmes which empower and improve the wellbeing of children
  • Improve the living standards of children through education, social awareness, health care, nutrition and shelter; and
  • Sustain these initiatives through the development of a sound financial and knowledge support base

Guiding Principles
ACT’s target beneficiaries are children from the age of birth through to completion of secondary education, who come from impoverished and/or disadvantaged backgrounds, in the areas surrounding Amari Resources and Amari Land’s projects. To maximise the positive impact of ACT’s resources, ACT will work closely with fellow community upliftment organisations; local Government; the private sector and other interested parties and donors. The following values and principles guide the establishment of ACT’s partnerships with organisations that:

  • Position their ultimate goal as poverty eradication, and not just the amelioration of a difficult circumstance
  • Posses a holistic and integrated approach to the challenges confronting children. These strategies should recognise that children are an integral and important part of families and communities. The wellbeing of children cannot be isolated from that of their environment
  • Facilitate for the involvement and participation of children in projects with a view to longevity
  • Empower communities to take responsibility for their decisions to facilitate change to achieve an absence of hunger, abuse, exploitation and homelessness; and
  • Promote best practice principles, encourage professionalism, and be orientated towards achieving measurable results
